Blackmores Night - A Knight in York - 180g

2012 live release from this band led by legendary rock guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. The album was recorded in the fall of 2011 at the Opera House in York, England.

Ritchie Blackmore is not only a guitarist and a songwriter of exceptional talent, his visionary approach and artistic ideas have allowed him to be repeatedly honored by fellow musicians and the media.

In the '70's, in Deep Purple, Blackmore has signed such classics as "Smoke On The Water," "Highway Star," "Black Night," "Speed King" and "Child In Time" that marked forever the history of rock and elevated Blackmore to the rank of Ritchie "guitar legend." Later, in a more melodic era, with Rainbow, he had more success.

Since the late '90s, with the assistance of Candice Night, his companion, he decided to devote himself to a form of "contemporary" medieval music, a style he had approached with Rainbow through various neoclassical compositions, which have since become the ultimate reference for a virtuoso and "guitar hero" of the heavy metal scene.

A Knight in York is the third Blackmore's Night album. Fourteen tracks in this concert filmed September 30, 2011, revisit key moments of their half dozen albums as a duo.

Still unknown in our country, Blackmore's Night is nevertheless one of the most interesting chapters in the career of a musician who has scored several generations of fans' riffs of course, but also beautiful melodies.
